I'm 39 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of 2009. I was in Chemo Therapy 3 weeks later, lost my hair and my strength within a
few weeks.
Unable to work, we were in some definite financial trouble. If it were not for help from my parents, which at my age was difficult to accept, we would have lost everything. I just wanted to concentrate on getting better and fighting this disease.
My father's mother and only sister both passed away from breast cancer and now I'm fighting it myself. My husband's mother had to fight this disease as well. That was 20 years ago and thankfully she is still with us. But I fear for my three girls that will have this gene possibly coming at them from both sides of our families. I am still fighting. And have thankfully found a way to help my family and those who might be touched in some way by this disease, including my daughters.
